History of the Wargames World Championships

The Wargames World Individual Championship tournament was organized for the first time in 1997 in Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa. Whereas the first tournament had only 19 participants, the event quickly grew in numbers, the current record being 158 players in the ancients and 23 in the renaissance tournament. Players from 21 different countries have joined the tournaments.
