National War Memorial and Carillon

Designed by prominent New Zealand architect WH Gummer, the magnificent War Memorial and Carillon commemorates those New Zealanders who gave their lives in the South African War, two World Wars, Korea, Malaysia and Vietnam.
The world's third largest, the carillon houses 74 bells including the "Peace" bell which at 12.5 tonnes is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The beautiful Hall of Memories houses the Roll of Honour and this together with foyer exhibitions provide testimony to our country's military heritage and sacrifice.
Admission is free - guided tours by arrangement.

Monday to Saturday 10.30am - 4.30pm
Sunday 12noon - 4.30pm
